The NextGen program connects Poettker to students and teachers at the local school districts they serve to unlock interactive opportunities for students to prepare for their futures while advancing their community. This year, Poettker presented three scholarships and seven community impact contributions to school districts across Southern Illinois.��

With 405 new contracts in 2024, 91��Ƭ�� claimed the 339th spot on ENR’s list of the top 400 general contractors in the country. Categorically, 22% of Poettker’s 2024 projects were classified as General Building, followed by Manufacturing and Power respectively.

The Top 400 report also covers market trends with quotes and anecdotes from Top 400 contractor executives. In its coverage of emerging technology, ENR reported on 91��Ƭ��’s launch of a new drone program in 2024.

“Never stop learning. The most valuable takeaway is being empowered to learn from experiences – good and bad – and apply them throughout your career. The job sites will teach you things the classroom never could. Stay curious, ask questions, and learn from your mistakes.

“Be respectful of others. From laborers to project executives, every individual has an important role to play on a project and within the industry. Earn respect from others by giving it first. Your reputation will carry you further than any title. Be honest with people, follow up so they know you are listening, and do what you committed you will do. Be humble, but take initiative. Your fresh ideas and energy are valuable to the construction industry.

“Act as your sister’s and brother’s keeper on the jobsite. Watch out for others, and they will, in turn, watch out for you. Safety isn’t optional. You are empowered to coach, train, and provide oversight to ensure everyone is planning and executing their work safely. Own it and hold yourself accountable to enforce it.

“Try not to be too rigid in your plan because it will change. Be adaptable to this change and listen to others who have an alternative plan to execute. Be intentional and thoughtful in your communication. Miscommunication often causes delays, rework, and discourse on a project.”

Now more than ever, concrete design and construction projects must integrate creative techniques and technologies to keep up with ever-evolving economic, environmental, and aesthetic demands. The ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards provides a platform to recognize concrete projects at the forefront of innovation and technology and showcases these projects to inspire excellence in concrete design and construction around the world.

“The Pana Elementary project showcases durability and longevity by using concrete as a primary component,” said Jay Timmermann, Director of Corporate Quality. “From the visually appealing precast concrete walls to the concrete parking lot that requires less lighting in comparison to asphalt pavements, this new campus will provide educational opportunities for generations.”

Construction of the new 2-story, 67,000 SF elementary school included 2,140 tons of precast concrete panels with stained colors and 3,445 cubic yards of poured-in-place concrete. The school includes administrative offices, a commons and cafeteria area for up to 400 people, an ICC-rated gymnasium with enough space for two physical education classrooms, art, music, library, media center, and STEM areas. The outdoor learning environment includes a 1/8 mile walking path and 3 playgrounds.

The 91��Ƭ�� team accepted the award at the American Concrete Institute of Missouri Quality Concrete Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Bogey Hills Country Club in St. Charles.

As a winner at the chapter level, 91��Ƭ�� will compete at the international level through the national American Concrete Institute organization. Winners will be announced at the ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards Gala on Monday, October 27, 2025, during the fall ACI Concrete Convention in Baltimore, MD.
